What's the best type for flooring? Ceramic or porcelain tiles? We're in the flooring stage now, and have difficulty in picking what's better... and what size is perfect for flooring? 16x16, 20x20 or smaller? Thanks for any reply!

Good question.
Not knowing the pros and cons for each type, I can't give an answer.
I would think size is important and would depend on size of room
where they will be installed.
We have 12 X 12 tiles in our main living area, and they seem to fit.
In the bedrooms, we have 16 X 16, and they look out of place.
I was once told, the bigger size tiles are best suited for large rooms,
like businesses or hotel lobbies.
One aspect is installing them correctly. We have not had one loose tile.
Soak tiles in water before installing them, so that dry tile will not
soak up moisture from mortar that they are set in.
Use tile adhesive. It seems that mixing it with cement is fine.
Use clean materials: Sand and water that is clean makes a difference.
Good luck in your choice and installation. Please post pictures and experiences. |

hi Pluma,
Thanks for the reply! Yes, i guess the bigger tiles are better for the living room huh... For bedroom, i might just get vinyl since its just on the 2nd floor and wood tiles for papa's room in the main floor... He demanded wood tiles But what can i do, its good for him i guess, since he's old...
Here's the finished kitchen counter..
With regards to tile adhesives, the store where they bought the tiles, advised them to use regular cement instead, coz its holds stronger.. I dont know... I hope it lasts long LOL...
I hope you also post pics of your house, im curious now hehe... thanks!
