I just registered so I guess I should introduce myself.

I am a British semi retired web developer married to a Filipina. For nearly 20 years we have planned to retire in Davao and build our retirement home. I lived in Hong Kong from 1972 to 1994 when I moved to Makati, then after eight years to Parañaque then about 2 years ago to Davao.

At last we are getting started. Well I am anyway. My wife is quite a bit younger than me so she will continue to work as an executive for a Philippine cargo forwarding company in Hong Kong while I prepare the retirement home.

My plan has always been to design a house and larger than average lot according to Permaculture and Feng Shue principals.

I am now in the process of buying land while I do rough drafts of the house design and the design of the land for food forest, vegetable mandala, tilapia ponds etc all integrated to achieve minimum wastage of resources (water, electricity, etc) for cooling, irrigation, etc.

I will soon need to find an architect to look over my draft designs of the house and estimate the cost, then I will need a builder to build on Samal Island.

I will also have a beach lot where I will build a simple beach house.

Sounds like you will be busy.

Please keep us updated on your progress.

Any chance you know Bob Martin?

Best wishes in your plans.

Thanks.

To be honest, I do realize I have taken on more than I can handle without a lot of help. Fortunately its easy to find help as long as you pay and they are supervised.
